Autumn Term 2
Kandinsky Studies
Kandinsky Studies
We have been spending some of our maths lessons and art lessons learning about the Russian artist Kandinsky. The children worked with a friend to put together one of his artworks before creating a Kandinsky style print themselves.
Kandinsky Poppies
Kandinsky Style Poppies
The children applied their knowledge about Kandinsky in order to create a beautiful poppy that we added to our outdoor Remembrance display.
The Big Bad Wolf
The Big Bad Wolf
In art this week we have been learning how to colour mix with black and white and to create a furry texture for our wolves. After painting, the children then collaged facial features onto their work. Brilliant job Hedgehogs!
Kandinsky Bricks
Kandinsky Rectangles
This week we applied our shape ordering and Kandinsky skills to create rectangle patterns. The children thought that the finished works looked like bricks so we used them to create a house for the wolves.
Stranger Danger
Stranger Danger
This week PCSO Williams called us on Zoom to teach us all about staying safe around strangers. As well as having a tour of the police station and learning about some of the equipment that police use, we learned who a stranger is and what to do if a stranger tries to talk to us.
The children really enjoyed this and thanked PCSO Williams via an email that we wrote together.
The Big Bad Dragon
The Big Bad Dragon
Following one of the children's ideas we have been investigating how the 3 Pig's story would change if the wolf was replaced by a fire breathing dragon. We made predictions, tested the materials and then retold the new story. Well done Hedgehogs.
Flapjack Production
The Hedgehogs have been super busy with our business and enterprise project of making flapjack that is being sold via our Christmas catalogue. They are loving working as a team to measure out and mix the ingredients. Our classroom has been filled with the wonderful aroma of flapjack all week!
We all hope you enjoy this tasty treat.
