Deer

Here's the deer in Chester Zoo which Mrs Duncan sponsored for you all!

Ant and Dec have teamed up with NSPCC to create a special video for children. Please watch their virtual assembly by clicking on the link below:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qm0kccbZpYY&feature=youtu.be&safe=active

It has some advice for children who may be worrying about Coronavirus and the impact on their family, as well as other important advice and words of encouragement.

***Please note – as the school move to now using the Oak National Academy, there are no longer weekly overviews or teaching and learning resources to print out***

Summer Term 2 Home Learning

We hope you and your family are keeping well in these unusual times. As part of our plans to support remote teaching and learning, we will be utilising the resources from Oak National Academy.

This online classroom has been created by teachers specifically to support pupils’ learning at home. Oak is a free website available at www.thenational.academy. It is backed by the Department for Education, and in the document below you will find a table to signpost you to a range of lessons from across the curriculum.

You can access Oak’s online classroom on any device, you don’t need to log in or remember a password. Each lesson is delivered by a trained teacher, over a pre-recorded video, and it’s very clear at the start of each session anything you might need (such as pens, paper etc). The lessons are designed to need minimal supervision, although this will depend on the age of your child.

All class teachers are aware of the work being set for their year groups and can be emailed at any time; however, due to some members of staff working with groups of children in school, responses may be slower than usual. To contact me directly, continue to use the 'Contact Mr Hawkins' form below.

Along with the lessons provided from the Oak National Academy, we have tried to include some extra activities, which are linked to the project the children would have been doing in this summer term.

Keep safe and remember to keep smiling!

You will find a video of Mr Hawkins talking through the Year 6 Oak National Academy content on the Video Resource Centre:

Welcome to Year 6 - the Deer Class

The Class Teacher is Mr Hawkins and the Teaching Assistant is Mrs Duncan, however other adults in school will be working in the class throughout the year too. We are incredibly excited about this year and we cannot wait to share another year with the wonderful children.

Our topic for Term 4 is: Natural World - Can anything good come from a disaster? We will be exploring different natural disasters and how they are formed, examining their impact geographically and if anything good can come from these deadly events.

Our previous topic was World War Two: what impact did this have on Boston and the world? We learned all about the causes of World War Two, its impact on Boston and around the world, Kindertransport and discrimination, linking to the Holocaust. Our texts in English were Anne Frank's diary, as well as 'Letters from the Lighthouse' by Emma Carroll.

Indoor P.E will usually be on Wednesdays and Outdoor P.E will be on Thursdays. Please ensure that P.E kits are in school on these days. Homework will be sent home every Monday and should be returned to school by Friday at the latest.
