Maths
This week in Maths we are moving on to length and height. We will be comparing, using non-standard measurements and standard measurements to measure the length and height of lots of things in and around school. Please see this week’s lessons resources below. There are videos in the Resource Centre for Monday’s and Thursday’s Maths lessons.
For an extra challenge this week I would like you to try an access maths shed at least 2 times this week. I will be keeping a watch out for any children who are accessing this and will be rewarding with team points and our top Mathstronaut.
Thursday - Starter: CGP Mental Maths workout book page 6
See video in the resource centre for today's lesson.
English
In English we are continuing with our postcards. This week we will be writing, editing and publishing our own postcards. I can’t wait to read your work this week and I also have a special surprise for you. To find out more watch Monday’s English video in the Resource Centre. On Friday we will be doing our first big write of the term, this is nothing to worry about and you will do amazing. Please remind your parents that these are to be done with little support as it is to show off all of the amazing things you have learnt. There is no set sheet for this but please watch the video in the Resource Centre which will talk you through what you need to do.
Phonics
In phonics this week we are looking at the alternative ‘ear’ and ‘air’ sounds. As a warm up for each phonics lesson use your sound mat in your learning packs and read through all of the sounds on the sound mat. Do you know them all? You may want to also pick 5-10 words to read from the back of your sound mat each day. Below are videos and activities for each day.
Monday – The ‘ear’ sound as in ‘beard’. Watch the video below and complete the activity.
Tuesday – The ‘eer’ sound as in ‘meerkat’. Watch the video below and complete the activity.
Thursday – The ‘air’ sound as in ‘chair’. Watch the video below and complete the activity.
Friday (Independent) – The ‘are’ sound as in ‘spare’. Watch the video below and complete the activity.
Friday phonics with Miss Hinch (10:45-11:15). Join Miss Hinch for our seconds live phonics lesson. Miss Hinch will send you the link to your email. You will need pieces of paper and a felt tip pen. I can’t wait to see you all.
Don’t forget you can access all the games and resources on Phonics Play to continue your phonics learning for free.
There is also a spelling game on spelling shed set up for the phonics sounds we are learning this week.
