Maths

You can find this week’s Maths resources below. This week’s learning is focusing on multiplying and dividing decimals by whole numbers. There is a video in the Video Resource Centre of Mr Hawkins talking through each lesson and activity – please make sure that you watch these.

Arithmetic – there is a video in the Video Resource Centre to discuss some of this week’s trickier questions. Please complete the calculations in your Maths book, marking your work afterwards. If the video doesn't play, don't worry and have a go at as many questions as you can.

English

In English, we are concluding our writing of Anne Frank’s biography. Please view the resources below for your tasks and modelled writing from Mr Hawkins, as well as the Video Resource Centre.

Big Write

For your Big Write this week (which is on Thursday), we will be focusing on developing atmosphere and descriptions after watching the video clip ‘Alma’ – you may have seen this before. Watch the video in the Video Resource Centre of Mr Hawkins discussing the clip and sharing some ideas.

Reading

Festival of Literature - https://www.festivalofliterature.co.uk/stream/ We have a treat this week as we will have live sessions with real authors, talking all about their books and being authors. We have three sessions where all you need to do is to click on the link above or the links in the timetable:
Tuesday 9th: 11:15am with Matt Oldfield (Unbelievable Football: The most incredible true football stories)

Tuesday 9th: 2pm with Anna McNuff (100 Adventures you have to have before you grow up)
Thursday 11th: 11:15am with Onjali Q. Raúf (The Boy At The Back Of The Class, Night Bus Hero)

Reading 1: read the text below, called ‘The Blitz in London’, and write a 30-50 word summary of what you have read.

Reading 2: re-read ‘The Blitz in London’ and answer the comprehension questions on the third page. The answers are included for you to mark your work afterwards.

SPaG

Your SPaG this week is continuing your focus on commas. Please complete the following pages in your KS2 English Grammar, Punctuation & Spelling CGP book.

SPaG 1: p44        SPaG 2: p45        SPaG 3: p46        SPaG 4: p47
SPaG 5: mark the past four days work by using the answers on p106.

Spelling

This week’s spellings are based on the Year 5/6 Challenge words. Please complete one activity each day, but remember that you can go on the Spelling Shed assignment at any time.

History

***Please note that there are two History lessons this week. ***

History 1: you will be exploring the Battle of Britain, examining this key event in WW2. There is a video in the Video Resource Centre as well as your resources below.

History 2: please join us for our WW2 quiz on TEAMS, where we will also use the opportunity to have a catch up and a celebration of your hard work this term. A link has been sent to your parents’ email addresses. You may want to bring a piece of paper and a pencil - I can’t wait to see you there!

P.S.H.E

Our P.S.H.E lesson is exploring stereotypes in further detail. Please see the resource below for information and your activity.

P.E

Please complete the activities on the resources below - these will be repeated for at least two days as keeping active is very important. Make sure you get some fresh air each day too.

Mr Johnson from Elite Sports has also kindly sent some additional P.E which you could complete at home. The resource is below for you to access if you would like some more active fun!

Art

Our Art lesson this week is focusing on making detailed pencil sketches. Click on the links on the document or view the screenshots which Mrs Duncan has prepared for you. Take your time and add as much detail as you can – don’t forget to photograph them and send them to Mr Hawkins.

Science

Science this week involves recapping the impact of exercise on your circulatory system, before exploring the impact of your lifestyle. Watch the video in the Video Resource Centre for more information and your activities below.
