Week 1
White Rose Maths
This term we are starting a new phase called 'Alive in 5!'. The sessions have already been recorded for your child to access. Follow this link, click on the box labelled 'Alive in 5!' (in the Spring Term section) and watch sessions 1-3 for this week - one per day.
Music
This week we are going to be learning what a flute sounds and looks like. Have a look at this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=as2ae7QYDmA showing a flute being played.
After this we are going to be listening to the soundtrack to the film 'The Snowman' and trying to hear the flute being played. Try listening to the film with the video switched off so that you are only hearing the music - the images can distract young listeners from the musical aim of the session. Art
This week we are going to be learning about the artist Elizabeth Gould, who painted images of birds. We will be trying to draw a blackbird using our careful-looking skills.
PSED
This week we are going to learn about staying safe by thinking about what is safe to put on our bodies. We will be discussing asking adults before using creams, the different types of clothes we need to wear in different weathers, and safe things to play with.
Week 1 Phonics
This week we are going to be learning about Kicking King and the sound 'k'. We will have a mixture of blending and segmenting in our sessions now that the children have learned how to segment using the rubber band trick. If your child was away last term and missed this trick a video of it can be found here: https://www.letterland.com/training/videos scroll down and click on the video button next to 'rubber band trick' We will be using decodable sentences for session 14 and the phonic reader titled 'Stop!'.
