Spring 2

Welcome back to the Spring Term.

This term our Enquiry question is 'Where on Earth are we?' and has a Geography driver. In English, we will be learning how to write a non-chronological report using our English cycle. In Maths, we are continuing to learn about length and perimeter and fractions.

Parent event - Food from around the world

it was fantastic to welcome our families into school to try different foods from around the world. Thank you to everyone that contributed! (We were all very full by the end of the day.)

Mother’s Day

To celebrate how amazing our mums are, we applied our learning of block print making to make a flower impression as part of our cards.

World Book Day

Year 3 enjoyed celebrating their favourite books with their families and the younger children in school!

English

Today we learnt about the features of a non-chronological report and labelled examples of each feature on an example text.

Science

This term we are learning about plants.

Today we dissected a flower and identified its parts. We provided detailed oral explanations of their purposes.

We learnt about the different ways that seeds are dispersed. We were shocked to find that there was so many ways that this happens and we found it fascinating that some seeds explode out of pods!

Art

This term we will be learning about Andy Warhol and creating our own pop art by creating a map of the world using a block print made from cardboard.

We made our block from cardboard to create the background for our world. We found the paint to be very thick which meant that we had to use lots of paint to ensure a clear print!

Computing

This term we have been working hard to create our own Powerpoints. We now know how to add slides and pictures and change the design of our presentations.

P.E.

We have been learning the rules and skills needed to play tag rugby. We have learnt so much including how to score a try, pass a rugby ball, find space, gain possession and tackle.
