Term 4 - Week 6 Remote learning

*** A letter from Ms Paul - School closure ***

Interacting with me during remote learning

We would like to invite you to book a 10 minute weekly catch up with your teacher via a video call known as 'Bookings'. This will give your child chance to talk about their learning, share successes and discuss any problems they have faced that week. It allows us as teachers to give feedback and if needed we can create further videos or resources to help you further. Teachers will be available 2-3pm daily.

Please visit the link below that will take you to a webpage. Here you can select your class teacher from a list and a day and time that suits you and your family. This will send you a email confirmation with a link that you can use at the time of your appointment to join the video call.

Please watch the video in the Video Resource Centre (see link below) where this is explained more.

Good morning Owl class,

I hope you are all well and have had a lovely weekend. Unfortunately, we are having to do our learning remotely for the last 3 days of this term. For those people who are asking, Year 1 children do not need to isolate they are just unable to be in school due to the limited numbers of staff.

Below you will find all of the lesson resources and a  suggested timetable for the next 3 days. I am contactable by email or through the 'contact Miss Hinch' section on our website. I would love to hear from you as much as you can!

On Tuesday and Wednesday at 9:00am I would like you all to join me on teams to go through the plans for the day and to see how you all are. From Monday afternoon, you will have the opportunity to join me on teams at the start of each lesson to go through the input, just like we would in school, you will then go off and complete the activities. I will be available on teams for anyone needing further support with any activity. Each day at 1:00pm - 1:30pm I would like us to get together for a story, I will then explain the afternoons activities. From 2-3 each day I will be available for 1:1 bookings.  All teams links will be sent to a parents email address.

Miss Roberts and Mrs Rhodes will be making daily phone calls to check in with you all and offer you any further support you may need. They will be calling from an unknown number so make sure to look out for this. Miss Roberts will also be arranging some extra sessions with some of you to go through your phonics and hear you read in the afternoons. All children that this concerns will be contacted on Monday.

I know this is not the end of term that we had hoped for but please remember that you are all amazing and I am so proud of you and very proud to be your teacher. Please don't hesitate to contact me about anything, even if you want just a chat.

This week in English we would have been writing our alternative stories including our new characters that we designed in school. I would like if we could still write our stories this week because we have worked extremely hard this term in on English sessions.

Join me for a live input on Teams at 11:00am on Tuesday and Wednesday.

All the resources you need for this week's lessons are below, including your SPaG starters.

See resources below.

Topic

This week we would have been spending our afternoon sessions designing and making our own villages, cities and towns. I would still like if you did this at home. I am aware that most of you may have sent in all of your cardboard boxes in school but that doesn't mean you can't join in with this activity, you may just want to change how you do it. For example, instead of building your town/ city/ village out of cardboard boxes you could use paper, lego, blocks. You could even paint a picture of your village/city/town instead.

Join me everyday for a live input after our story session at 1:00 -1:30.

Monday - Today I would like you to design a plan for your village/ city/ town. Have a think about what you might want to include and how many? Think about what human and physical features you may include (vegetation, sea, beach, houses, shops). You can design your village/ city/ town on a piece of paper. Your design does not need to be actual drawings of the things you are going to include. You may want to use symbols - we will look at these in our input session, or you can view a picture below.

Tuesday/ Wednesday - Create your village/ city/ town using your chosen materials. Don't forget to refer back to your plan to help you. Once you have finished, we need to evaluate our work. Please see the activity sheet below with some questions for you to answer/ think about.

Reading

Below is this weeks reading cold task. On Tuesday please complete the sentence and picture matching sheet and on Wednesday use the time to read something that you enjoy.
