Term 2- How do we celebrate?

Week 1 - Halloween Celebrations

We enjoyed lots of exciting Halloween themed activities, we did an observational drawing of a pumpkin working together and discussing what the pumpkin looks like and the different colours we needed. We also joined Reception for an afternoon of stories, pumpkins and games!

The children loved telling us all about their Halloween evening and what they dressed up as.

Week 2 - Bonfire Night

This week to celebrate bonfire night, we enjoyed making some edible sparklers using breadsticks, sprinkles, and melted chocolate! These looked beautiful and yummy. We also had a glitter tufff spot where we used our fine motor skills to make marks. We also watched videos and looked at pictures of fireworks and copied them onto paper using chalk and black paper.

Week 3 - Remembrance Day

This week we focused on Remembrance Sunday, we watched a Cbeebies information video so we learnt all about why it is important to remember those special people and why we wear poppies. The children had a go at making finger print poppies with red and black paint. We also had a two minute silence, the children did so well.

We used an apple to print onto paper to make poppies, they used black paint for the middle and a pencil for the stem. The children enjoyed making poppies.

Week 4 - Weddings (Celebrations)

This week we have been learning about Weddings and we celebrate them as well as what happens during a ceremony. We designed our own wedding cake, dresses and suits. We had lots of fun talking about weddings and if any of our parents are married or if we have been to a wedding before. We looked at lots of pictures and videos of a ceremony too.
