Week 3 and 4
Letterland Phonics
Week beginning: Monday 21st November 2022
This week the children are learning about the skill of segmenting. This is where a word is broken down into its sounds in order to be written. In their Letterland sessions, the children will be introduced to the rubber band trick. They place their hands together and imagine there is a rubber band around them, as they say a word slowly they pull the rubber band apart so that they can hear the individual sounds in the word.
Maybe you could encourage your child to try this with the following words and then try to write them on a piece of paper or create them with letter magnets or sound cards.
