Suggested activities during school closure

As you are using the internet and different forms of technology more while you are at home, please remember all of our important Internet Safety work that we do in school. Please visit https://wyberton.gofederation.co.uk/e-safety/ or click on the link below to remind yourself of important e-safety tips before accessing these links and remember to be SMART - with a heart! Take a moment to remind yourselves to be kind and caring to everyone - whether in person or online!

***Please note – as the school move to now using the Oak National Academy there are no longer weekly overviews or teaching and learning resources to print out***

Summer Term 2 Remote Learning

We hope you and your family are keeping well in these unusual times.

As part of our plans to support remote teaching and learning, we will be utilising the resources from Oak National Academy.

This online classroom has been created by teachers specifically to support pupils’ learning at home. Oak is a free website available at www.thenational.academy. It is backed by the Department for Education, and in the document below you will find a table to signpost to a range of lessons from across the curriculum.

You can access Oak’s online classroom on any device, you don’t need to log in or remember a password. Each lesson is delivered by a trained teacher, over a pre-recorded video, and it’s very clear at the start of each session anything you might need (such as pens, paper etc). The lessons are designed to need minimal supervision, although this will depend on the age of your child. You will find a video of how to use the website here: https://wyberton-primary-academy.primarysite.media/playlist/year-4

All class teachers are aware of the work being set for their year groups and can be emailed at any time; however, due to some members of staff working with groups of children in school, responses may be slower than usual. To contact teachers directly, continue to use the Contact Us tab.

Along with the lessons provided from the Oak National Academy, I have tried to include some extra activities, which are linked to the project the children would have been doing in this summer term.

Each week there will be a video uploaded from me on the Video Resource Centre so please continue to check this page for updates.

Keep safe and remember to keep smiling and to keep in touch!

Supporting Topic Resources

The PowerPoints below will help you with some of the research for the topic suggestions linked to Ancient Greece.

Spellings

Here you will find the spellings that you should know by the end of Year 4. You could create some games using them to help you learn them.

Term 6: What stories can be told on a pot?

This term we are going to explore Ancient Greece and discover what life was like for people of Ancient Greece and the influences from this period of history in today’s world. Please continue to use our Video Resource Centre which you can get to by using this link:

https://wyberton-primary-academy.primarysite.media/

Term 5: How Will You Explore Neverland?

This term we are going on an exciting adventure. If you have a copy of the book Peter Pan to read or can watch the film then please do because we are going on a magical adventure over the next few weeks to Neverland! This is a mysterious island that explorers have not documented before and this term, it is your job to do just that!

Each week there will be a new sub-page created that has suggested teaching and learning resources for you to explore if you wish. The activities are similar to what we would have been doing in school. I will also be uploading videos each week to help teach you some new things; these can be found in our Video Resource Centre which you can get to by using this link:
