Number formation practice
Last week the children did lots of number writing and many of us were finding it tricky to form our numbers correctly so this week we are going to spend lots of time practicing writing our numbers. I have attached a dinosaur themed number formation booklet for you to print if you have a printer if not don’t worry – try to think of how you could use what you have at home to practice writing your numbers. Maybe you have pens and paper. Maybe you have a paintbrush and paints. Maybe you want to get a bit messy and use shaving foam on a baking tray with your fingers. However you do it make sure you ask your mums and dads to show you the correct formation for the numbers and to check that you are getting them the right way around. Start with 0 (making sure you start at the top and go anti-clockwise around) and move onto a new number once you are ready.

Phonics Warm Up
To get the children thinking about Phonics we usually do a daily warm up which includes saying the sounds that we can see presented to us, singing the alphabet song and then reading and spelling at least 5 of the tricky words that we have learned so far. There is a warm up video on the video resource section of the website (found here: https://wyberton-primary-academy.primarysite.media/media/phonics-warm-up-video-sound-recall-summer-term) that runs through all of our sounds or you could encourage your child to use their sound mat. The tricky words that we have covered so far are: I, to, the, no, go, we, me, be, she, he, have, what, you, are, was and love. Perhaps you could write these onto paper and display them on the wall for your child to practice spelling and reading.
Phonics Session 1
After a warm up watch the video, found in the video resource section, introducing the sound ‘ow’ (like in cow). These sessions are most effective if you do not tell your child what the new sound is going to be. This encourages them to discover it for themselves. The video is found here: https://wyberton-primary-academy.primarysite.media/media/phonics-ow-summer-term-week-4 and was filmed during the last lockdown.
At the end of the video your child will be encouraged to find out about some longer words that use the sound ‘ow’.
Phonics Session 2
After a warm up watch the video, found in the video resource section, introducing the sound ‘ou’ (like in cloud). These sessions are most effective if you do not tell your child what the new sound is going to be. This encourages them to discover it for themselves. The video is found here: https://wyberton-primary-academy.primarysite.media/media/phonics-ou-summer-term-week-4 and was filmed during the last lockdown.
At the end of the video your child will be encouraged to find out about some longer words that use the sound ‘ou’.
Phonics Session 3
After a warm up watch the video, found in the video resource section, introducing the tricky words there and their. The video is found here: https://wyberton-primary-academy.primarysite.media/media/phonics-the-tricky-words-there-and-their-summer-te and was filmed during the last lockdown.

Creative time 1
What will come out of your egg?
After remembering all of the life-cycles that we have studied this term (frogs, chickens, butterflies, sunflowers) Try to draw a picture of what will hatch or grow from your egg. What is your creature/plant called?
Creative time 2
How will your creature change as it grows?
Today try to draw pictures and write captions to describe how you creature/plant will change as it grows. Will it look the same as it grows or will there be differences? Can you create a life-cycle like we have looked at for frogs, butterflies etc.?
