Term 1- Where would you rather live- big city or a small village?

Welcome to the Autumn Term in Year 2. We are thrilled to welcome everyone back to school for another year full of exciting learning and extra-curricular activities. This term, our Enquiry driver is Geography and we will learn about and compare the human and physical features in Wyberton and London.

Please see below our newsletter and Enquiry mat that outlines the learning that will take place this term.

Maths

We have been busy using our manipulatives to  learning about place value within 100, helping us to understand the value of tens and ones.

We have been learning how to use part whole models to help us partition numbers and answer missing number sentences.

Writing

We have been exploring our book hook, The Country Mouse and the Town Mouse, in preparation for writing our own narrative. We used our retrieval and inference skills to predict what book we would be studying.

We have been exploring the use of language in our book and creating our own ambitious adjectives that we can use in our narrative writing.

P.E.

This term we are learning some of the key skills needed to play football including hand-eye coordination, teamwork, ball control and space finding.

Science

We have been learning about the properties of different materials and how materials are more suitable for different purposes. We conducted our own experiment to find out what material is most suitable for holding water.
