Term 2 - Should you move from London to America?
We are all very excited to welcome you back to Autumn Term 2. We have lots of exciting learning activities taking place this term including the launch of our business and enterprise curriculum and our Christmas art.
Please see our newsletter and enquiry mat below which will provide you with more information about the learning that will be taking place this term.
Cities and Countries in North and South America
Today, in our first enquiry lesson we were taking atlases to find and label key cities and countries in North and South America. We then revisited the 8 compass points from Year 3 and used these to help us compare the locations on places in North and South America.
Maths- Area
We’ve started this term off by learning about area. We have began using squares as a way of calculating area and comparing shapes with different areas. Today we used post it notes to make different rectilinear shapes before calculating the area.
Children in Need
Today we raised money and awareness for children in need. We participated in bake offs, cycling 25km, covering Pudsey’s face in spare coins and dressing up spotty or in Pudsey clothes. We’ve had a great day support such an important charity.
Interfaith week - Islamic Art
This week we having be celebrating interfaith week by retrieving what we already know about Islam and looking at ways they show love and community. We have learnt that Muslims don’t like drawing animals or people as a sign of respect. Therefore, a lot of their art is in the form of geometric shapes and patterns in. They believe these patterns show how the world has order and beauty. As a class we creat our own geometric artwork.
