Term 3- Why is climate important?

This term we are developing our Geographical knowledge and will be discovering different biomes around the world. 

Please look at the enquiry mat for the key vocabulary we will be using and the key information that you could discuss with your child.

Our term 3 newsletter is also here to give you more detail about what we are learning this term but also key information about parent events, PE days and what the children need through out the term.

Music

This term the children have been learning about rhythm and beat using percussion instruments. The children have been learning this through songs about food and drink.

PSHE

This term we are learning about how to stay safe. The children role played different situations where you could ask for help from trusted adults including school staff, the lollipop person, emergency services and our family. We discussed how to stay safe in situations including playing at the park, crossing a road, walking home from school and being in the supermarket.

PE

Today the children participated in a yoga class. They thoroughly enjoyed the relaxing element and discussed mindful techniques and when they could use these to support themselves during the school day and at home.

PE

This term the children have been learning to the skills to play golf. They have really enjoyed this. They have learnt how best to hold the club and how to swing effectively to hit the ball.

Geography

This term we have been learning about biomes and the regions they are in. Today we learnt about the temperate biome that we live in. We explored the school grounds to observe the flora and fauna within this biome.

Design Technology

This term we have been learning about nutrition and cooking. The children have developed their cutting skills using a retrieval of techniques to prepare vegetables. The made ratatouille and pasta and thoroughly enjoyed trying it.

Visit to Church

This term we visited our local church, St. Leodegar to learn all about Easter and Lent. The church learnt about 40 days and nights of sacrifice and discussed ways they could be more positive for 40 days.

Athlete Visit

We have been very lucky this term to have a visit from Becky Green, a GB Kayak athlete. She put us through our paces on a fitness circuit. She also presented an assembly to the school where she shared her story and spoke about the resilience and determination it has taken her to get to where she is now.
