Term 5 - The Tudors - a terrible or terrific time to be alive?

Welcome to the summer term in Year 4. We have lots of fun and engaging learning activities taking place this term and extra-curricular activities including the celebration of VE day and sun safety day. Our Enquiry driver this term is History and our question is 'the Tudors - a terrible or terrific time to be alive?'

For an overview of our learning this term, please see our newsletter below.

The Old Gainsborough Hall visit

As part of ourTudor learning, we were lucky enough to experience what living during the zTudor period entailed. We learnt a variety of facts including how the Tudors ate, dined, entertained and dressed.

Writing

We have been learning about the Tudors and King Henry VIII in preparation for writing our own narrative based on the Tudor period. We retrieved and inferred information from written and pictorial sources.

As part of our vocabulary gathering, we worked in unity to create ambitious vocabulary that we could use to describe King Henry VIII.

We have been learning how to write a leaflet and we found a range of features that we could find within different examples.

We have been learning about the Tudor Kings and Queens. We created role play scenarios to show how different people would have felt for each heir to the throne. We were able to use our knowledge of the impact and actions that each heir had to help us.

VE Day celebrations

Year 4 enjoyed our experience day dressing up, learning about the importance of the day, creating our own decorations and writing a diary entry. We had our own street party at lunch time awith a picnic.
