Welcome to Term 4 in Year 2. Our Enquiry question this term is 'how did Florence Nightingale and Mary Seacole make nursing better?' and our driver is History. We have lots of exciting learning taking place this term (see newsletter below) and as the weather warms up, we look forward to taking some of this learning outside. 

Farm visit 

In preparation for our learning of plants, growth and the journey of food in the Summer term, we visited a local farm to learn more about how different vegetables grow and what the responsibilities of a farmer are. We took part in a range of activities including a bug hunt, worm expedition, planting our own vegetables and investigating the cauliflower. 

We have been learning how to create a running stitch on our Design and Technology lessons. We were all very proud of our hats that we successfully sewed together, applying our newly learnt skill!

As part of our instructional writing, we learnt how Florence Nightingale and Mary Seacole helped injured soldiers in the war. We were able to sequence the events and create freeze frames for each instruction. 

In Maths, we have been learning about height and length using centimetres and metres. We worked in unity to apply our learning to a range of problem solving questions. 

In our PSHE lessons this term, we are learning about rights and respect. We took our learning outdoors to role play scenarios in which we practised asking respectfully for help from others.
